Abstract

This study deals with the lexical semantics of the January 2022 edition of the news portal Kumparan.com and its importance as teaching material for news texts in class VIII secondary school. This study is motivated by the use of indirect language and lack of learning in social media, especially online news. The purpose of this research is to describe the lexical semantic meaning of each Kumparan.com news word and then describe the results of the analysis as learning correlations as manuals as learning materials. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method. The January news issue of Kumparan.com was the subject of this study. Data collection techniques used observational and note-taking techniques. This documentary data collection technique is done by reading, listening and taking notes, after which conclusions can be drawn.
