Abstract

During the past nine years, the authors have observed the occurrence of extensor-type seizures in four asthmatic patients receiving theophylline within minutes following induction of anesthesia with ketamine. This report briefly describes these cases. In addition, laboratory experiments in mice confirm a lowering of the seizure threshold with the concurrent use of both drugs.
