Abstract

Two new chromane type meroterpenoids were isolated from the methanolic extract of the brown alga, Sargassum micracanthum. Their structures were elucidated based on spectroscopic analysis and chemical conversion. The absolute stereochemistry of the methyl group at C-8′ in 1 and related compounds were determined by modified Mosher's method. © 2008 Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
