Abstract

Conclusion: Navigated implantation of a UKP with the used, non-image- based system allowed to improve the accuracy of the radiological implantation without any significant inconvenient and with little change in the conventional operative technique. Mini-invasive implantation was effective, but the accuracy did not reach that of the conventional navigated technique. Minimally invasive techniques have to be validated, because a loss of accuracy will negatively influence long term outcomes. © 2007 Springer Medizin Verlag Heidelberg.
