Abstract

Purpose: Amniotic fluid mesenchymal stem cells (AF-MSCs) are promising candidates for cell-based therapy. This review presents a comprehensive overview of the features and therapeutic applications of these cells. Methods: This is a literature review combined with experience of practice. Conclusion: Although the long-term risks of AF-MSCs require further investigation, these cells are increasing in popularity in the fields of regenerative medicine and targeting therapy because of their unique properties. © 2014 Springer-Verlag.
