Abstract

In the process of cloud computing development and popularization, virtualization provides a viable solution to solve the problem of energy consumption and resource utilization. Meanwhile, Virtualization leads to multiple virtual machines competing for shared resources. This paper summarizes the shared resources contention caused by multiple co-tenant virtual machines in cloud data centers. We expound and analyze the main aspects of resource contention, and describe the key technologies to solve this problem. We focus on two main resources: memory and cache. At the end of this paper, the development trend of virtualization is also discussed.
