Abstract

Liver cirrhosis is an increasing cause of morbidity and mortality in most countries, being the 13th most common cause of death worldwide. Survival decreases with the appearance of complications, such as ascites, gastroesophageal variceal bleeding, hepatic encephalopathy, and hepatocellular carcinoma, etc. In this chapter, we review the current knowledge regarding liver cirrhosis.
