Abstract

Key Features: The incidence of sexually transmitted infections is rising worldwide. There is still no resistance of Treponema pal-lidum against penicillin. There is a growing Neisseria gonorrhoeae resistance against chinolones and azithromycin. Sexually transmitted diseases have to be considered in uncommon localizations (e.g., anal or oral lesions) Patients presenting with a sexually transmitted infection should be screened for others including HIV © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
