Abstract

Mature teratomas are the most common ovarian benign neoplasm in pediatrics (Bailez et al. 1992; Breen and Maxson 1977; Breen et al. 1981). Enucleation of the tumor, preserving the ovary is a current technique in adults. Only a few pediatric cases have been published as case reports in the literature (Garcia et al. 1996; Nehzat et al. 1989). Cystadenomas, although less frequent in the pediatric age group, may occur in adolescents and can be treated by laparoscopically. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2008.
