The Netherlands have traditionally featured a pluralistic approach towards religious and ethnic minorities. For more than a decade now this has come under fire, and focus is put on the affirmation of progressive values and new patterns of diversity. The article tracks this shift, discussing policy changes, juridical decisions as well as dynamics within Muslim communities.
