Abstract

An improved buffer sizing approach in critical chain scheduling was proposed based on the flexible management in projects. Through identifying the uncertainties which have influences on the duration of each activity and taking the project characteristics which include resource tightness, network complexity and risk preference of the project manager into consideration comprehensively, it decreases the subjectivity in the decision-making process effectively and makes the buffer sizing more reasonable. © 2012 Springer-Verlag GmbH.
