Cuban reefs were mapped following an expert-driven approach using satellite imagery and complemented by previous maps, studies, and fieldwork. Mapping classes were defined initially according to their geographical characteristics (such as surface area, lengths, general and patch spatial distribution, average depths, and other general descriptions), the geomorphology on which they develop, and also on regionalization and typology. The analyses were made up to a maximum depth of 20--35 m (depending on water transparency sunlight penetration). Current results were compared with others existing for Cuba.
