Cercosporoid hyphomycetes from New Caledonia and some other South Pacific islands

Abstract

In the present paper, cercosporoid hyphomycetes known from New Caledonia, Vanuatu (New Hebrides), Wallis and Futuna, and French Polynesia are summarised and discussed, along with a few collections from Fiji and Samoa. New species Cercospora phaseolicola, Cladosporium nigrel-loides, Phaeoramularia malpighiae, Pseudo-cercospora alocasiae, P. aracearum, P. artocarpicola, P. barringtoniicola, P. brassicae, P. dioscoreae, P. musicola, P. pipturicola, P. polysciatispinnatae, P. scaevolae, and P. vanuatuensis, the new variety Passalora mucunae var. denticulata, and the new genus Scolecostigmina are described. The new combinations Mycovellosiella gliricidiae, M. nervisequens, Passalora arachidicola, P. colocasiae, P. mucunae, Pseudocercospora alphitoniae, P. morindicola, P. musae-sapienti, P. pterocarpicola var. guzmanii, P. vignicola, P. vexillatae, Scolecostigmina confluens, S. mangiferae, and S. tirumalensis are made. The genus Oreophylla is reduced to synonymy with Passalora. © 1999 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
