The purpose of this study was to determine whether learning by the field trip method had a significant effect on improving speaking skills in grade students. This research was conducted with a quasi-experimental method with the Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest design. The results showed that the average test difference on the post test speaking skills of the experimental class and the control class at the 0.05 significance level was obtained p (sig. (2-tailed) = 0,000. This shows that there were significant differences between the average Post test scores of the experimental class and the control class in children's speaking skills at 95% confidence level. There are differences in students' speaking skills before and after learning through the field trip method. In general students become proficient in imitating sounds or words, expressing ideas, thoughts and feelings related to the theme, because learning through the field trip method is carried out outside the classroom, it must be supported by the ability of good teachers and a good psychological state of the students. In this learning required active teachers, mastering the theme and being able to control students. Then the teacher's creativity is needed for packaging varied learning so as to build student motivation to learn, so learning can be meaningful for students, especially to improve speaking skills
