Machado, L. P. S. e Potiguar, F. Q. 701 Abstract In this paper we study a common move in soccer, the bounce of a ball on the floor before reaching the goalkeeper. We treat this problem as a two-dimensional case of inelastic collision and the relative rotation between a sphere and a plane. We show that, in some situations, the ball, after the bounce, might acquire a new trajectory and even higher velocity towards the goal, despite the dissipation of energy. All this work can be used as a context for the teaching of concepts of mechanics in basic Physics courses.
