Abstract

There is growing interest in building education for social, cultural, economic and environmental sustainability (EfS) into the core activities of universities and colleges around the world, not only into their research and engagement activities and their operations but also, most importantly, into their curriculum. However, having a well-designed EfS programme approved or a strategic plan for the area in place does not ensure that it will be effectively and productively put into practice, continuously enhanced or sustained.
