Abstract

BPS is a congenital foregut malformation characterized by the presence of a discrete mass of nonfunctioning lung parenchyma without connection to the normal tracheobronchial tree and an anomalous systemic blood supply. Although reported in up to 20% of autopsy and postnatal series, the association of BPS with CDH has not previously been diagnosed prenatally. The prognosis for a fetus with such a combination of malformations is presumed to be poor, but uncertainties regarding its natural history make counseling difficult.
