Abstract

In the traditional sports games management model, there are huge organizational structure, low efficiency, slow information response, unreasonable resource configuration, trivial and miscellaneous data processing, inaccurate information analysis, and other problems. In this paper, through the analysis on the functions, structure and characteristics of Geographic Information System (GIS), the application fields of GIS are discussed and analyzed, and also the authors propose that it is feasible to apply geographic information system to the sports field and especially large sports games. According to the analysis on the feasibility of applying the geographic information system in the management systems of large sports games, an operational model of GIS management system of large sports games is constructed. With this system, hopefully, the management efficiency of China's large sports games can be improved greatly, and simultaneously the modernization, information and organizational operation of large sports games can be increased. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
