Abstract

In the Serengeti hyaenas exploit more or less the same food stock as lions. A study of their social structure and behaviour indicates that it is dominated by females. Even small cubs can chase adult males away from the den if their mother is present. The life cycle and feeding habits of hyaenas are examined. -G.M.Sheail
