Abstract

High energy trauma affecting the knee can lead to combined fractures, ligamentous and meniscal tears. These lesions have to be diagnosed as soon as possible because early treatment gives better results. The first step consists of a clinical examination, measurement of the laxity, and meniscal evaluation. The second step is devoted to imaging examination: x-ray, CT scan, and MRI belong to the routine. After establishing the precise diagnosis, fracture treatment can start because it is a priority. After the fracture workout, we repeat laxity and meniscal evaluation before performing ligament and meniscus repair.
