The growing search for complementary treatment methods aimed at promoting well-being and relieving symptoms appears as a differential knowledge for the palliative care nurse. The study aimed to describe scientific evidence available in the literature on the clinical relevance of nursing knowledge when adopting integrative and complementary practices for the patient in palliative care. This is an integrative review carried out in the databases of the Virtual Health Library (VHL), PubMed, and Online Scientific Electronic Library (SciELO), from 2016 to 2021. The descriptors “Complementary Therapies”, “Nursing Care”, “Palliative Care” were used with the Boolean operator “AND”, and the keywords palliative care, complementary therapies and nursing care were defined. The 12 studies selected showed that the nursing role in guiding patients and in the adoption of therapies in clinical practice, after specialization, emerges as a potentiality in holistic care, aiming to provide a dignified and humanized finitude
