Abstract

This chapter responds to the need to explore the implementation of Green IT in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) organisations to better understand their current Green IT initiatives and pave the way for recommendations to optimise their business IT potential for environmental sustainability. This chapter presents the data collection method (quantitative) that will refine and confirm data showing the current attitudes of IT personnel in GCC countries. Three themes were addressed by IT personnel: Information Technology, Social and Cultural and Green Management. The findings of these themes led to the development of ten factors: sustainable data centre, employees’ skills development, automated sustainability, cloud computing, embedding sustainability, sustainability awareness, government responsibility, sustainability implementation, recycling management, and Green IT usage.
