Abstract

The Health, Work and Retirement (HWR) Longitudinal Study is a nationally representative cohort study that has been following a sample of middle-aged and young-old New Zealanders (aged 55-70) across multiple data collection waves since 2006. The broad aim of the HWR study is to determine the factors that promote health and independence of older New Zealander’s in the transition from work to retirement, with a particular focus on successful ageing in older Māori (the indigenous people of New Zealand).
