Possibilities to increase the evaporation rate of tin were investigated. Iron-based melts containing 0.3 to 0.6 mass% tin were treated in an induction melting furnace at a pressure of 10 Pa. It was found that detinning is enhanced by increasing the sulphur content of liquid iron. It was observed that the highest evaporation rate of tin is from high-silicon iron melts. Methods for tinplate scrap recycling were considered. Tinplate scrap was used as iron-bearing material to produce ferro-silicon alloys. It was demonstrated that the condensate of tinplate scrap melts can be used to obtain pure tin.
