Abstract

After a slow start with a few pioneering experiments, application of high-energy X-rays with above 40 keV has become standard at many synchrotron radiation facilities. With rapid improvements in sources, optics, and detectors, we observe today a clear trend towards higher energies in many areas, but in particular in materials science. In this overview we give a brief introduction into high-energy X-ray scattering and imaging guided by a selection of experiments in materials science.
