Abstract
By surveying examples from Sky Gilbert's plays (I Have AIDS!, Hamilton Bus Stop and It's All Tru) this essay offers dramaturgical strategies for contemporary narrations of AIDS sexual politics and practices in the gay community. For Gilbert, AIDS is as much a moral paradigm as a disease. He suggests we must move beyond the representations traditionally found in US AIDS plays like The Normal Heart and Angels in America. Gilbert's plays are not melodramatic chronicles of illness and death but, instead, deal with AIDS in the context of drag, condom-less sex, sex trade work, PrEP, and HIV criminalisation.
