Abstract

Introduces an edited book. Says it considers interrelated questions of well- being. First, it explores the well-being as per different philosophical and religious traditions. Second, it traces the historical development of the concept of well-being over time. Third, it looks at contemporary patterns that exist in different world regions and among different population groups. Fourth, it looks at the ever-changing well-being of social sub-groups. Fifth, it looks at technology and technological innovation in relation to well-being in the distant past, the recent past, and today. Sixth, it discusses the implications of the first four parts of the book.
