Abstract

A major use of gold compounds in the pharmaceutical industry is for antiarthritic agents. The disease itself is not understood and little is known about the way in which the drugs act, but detailed pictures of the distribution of gold in the body are available, and some of the relevant biochemistry is beginning to emerge. © 1987 World Gold Council.
