Abstract

By refining dephosphorized hot metal in an LD converter, extra low phosphorus killed steels having a phosphorus content of lower than 0. 005% were obtained. By applying this method for the production of normal phosphorus steels, the amount of generated LD slag is decreased, and the slag can be utilized again as a dephosphorizing agent.
