Abstract

Density, electrical conductivity, viscosity and surface tension have been measured to determine the behavior of Fe**3** plus ions in molten Na//2O-Fe//2O//3, RO-Fe//2O//3 (R equals Ca, Sr, Ba) systems. Infrared absorption spectra of quenched glassy samples support the distribution of Fe**3** plus (4) and Fe**3** plus (6) in the melts.
