Abstract

Biometric technologies advancement has created a significant impact on data privacy protection in Hong Kong. The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data shared his experience and explained his role in regulating activities involving the use of Biometric devices in collecting personal data. He also discussed on the good practice that should be adopted by the end users. The recent public consultation in Hong Kong on the review of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance also included the proposal to classify biometric data as sensitive personal data.
