Abstract

Patellar tendon injuries constitute a significant problem in a wide variety of sports.1 Despite the morbidity associated with patellar tendinopathy, clinical management remains largely anecdotal2,3 as there have been few well-designed treatment studies. The goal of this chapter is to update the reader on basic science as it relates to the patellar tendon, and then to discuss the evidence supporting current patient management. © 2006 Springer-Verlag London Limited.
