Abstract

As described in the paper, in the future, the Slovak state water management policy has to be based on well defined water management objectives, which inter alia include: ►Provision of sufficient volume and quality of drinking water for inhabitants and other consumers in concert with the Directive 98/83/EEC; ►Provision of collection and adequate treatment of wastewater in line with the Directive 93/271/EEC and especially with respect to the polluter pays principle; ►Achievement of a high level of environmental protection within the context of sustainable development; and ►Achievement of an adequate level of flood prevention. ■ The ultimate goal of Slovakia is to harmonise water management policy with the requirements of the European Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC.
