The article’s goal is to identify significant findings reported within the scientific literature regarding the didactic implications of the school spaces. We intend to offer a response to the research question: what are the didactic implications of school spaces in the mandatory stages of schooling? Initially we undertook a historical review, following the historic-educational research method. Subsequently, we conducted a documentary study, concretely a critical analysis of texts based on a systematic review of scientific production, following the PRISMA statement. This article is part of a research project funded by Spain’s Ministry of Science and Innovation, D&I+i Projects. Results show a positive didactic impact from polyvalent, adapted, well-conditioned and stimulating spaces with flexible learning opportunities. Our conclusions discuss some questions and expose possible lines of investigation contributing to the development of research in this field
