Abstract

This review on spontaneous dissection of the internal carotid artery (sICAD) will discuss in the first part stroke prevention and focus on vascular risk factors, antithrombotic therapy, and treatment of severe stenosis or occlusion, and dissecting aneurysm. The second part of the review will summarize the treatment of acute ischemic stroke due to sICAD. © 2008 Springer-Verlag.
