The phenomenon of emotion regulation has proved to be a topic of great interest in scientific research by the importance that it has in people’s lives and in the trajectories of adaptive development in children. The present study represents an operationalization of the construct of emotional regulation, taking into account the movements of the inner world of children, seeking to understand the relationship that the dimensions of emotional support, denial and attempt to control establish with the degree of emotional development of children. In this study participated 64 children of both sexes, from 3rd and 4th grade of public and private and cooperative elementary schools. It was found, that higher levels of parental support are associated with higher levels of emotional development. Parental rejection is associated with difficulties in terms of emotional development confirming the emotional regulation as a relational phenomenon grounded in individual complexity due to the importance that the quality of parental relationships is covered.
