Abstract

In today’s sustainable business environment, managers and researchers have been attached high importance on food waste management. Especially for developing countries, the readiness level is comparatively low belongs to policies and low consciousness. That forces all stakeholders in the food waste supply chain benefit from some methods that can be beneficial for improving their decision-making skills. Because this decision needs to handle multi-faceted dimensions simultaneously under linguistic and uncertain environment, a fuzzy based multi criteria decision making (MCDM) approach-based methodology is proposed in this study. As a novel fuzzy approach, spherical fuzzy sets (SFS) are utilized to select the best alternative. In the proposed model, SFSs are combined with a traditional MCDM approach, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) with a name of Spherical Fuzzy AHP. A numerical example is conducted in order to indicate how the model can be used for food waste management. By the help of the proposed model, it is aimed to create a supportive tool for decision makers in the related institutions such as municipalities.
