Abstract

When procuring a hybrid SPECT/CT system for the first time, many nuclear medicine professionals do not have necessary background knowledge necessary for producing a complex business case, selecting a system with the additional complexity and safety requirements of CT, understanding the legal procurement process, assessing the hardware and software features available on current models, and correlating system features against future clinical needs of the developing hybrid service. An overview of the above issues is given here to help inform the reader of key aspects to be considered when selecting and tailoring a new system for clinical use.
