Abstract

Mesoporous silica rods were prepared inside the channels of porous anodic alumina membranes (PAAMs) by a solvent evaporation method using a precursor solution containing P123 block copolymers. The orientation of the mesochannels within the PAAM channels could be controlled by applying high magnetic field processing under 30 T. When the magnetic field was applied parallel to the PAAM channels, mesochannels were successfully induced parallel along the magnetic direction. Such magnetically induced mesochannels were directly confirmed by TEM observation. © 2008 The Ceramic Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
