Abstract

In 1875 the doctor training programme was reformed, and this had consequences for the position of the graduates on the medical market. In 1902 further revisions were introduced, leading to a change in the name of the school and of the graduates: School ter Opleiding van Inlandsche Geneeskundigen became the School tot Opleiding van Inlandsche Artsen (STOVIA, School for the Education of Native Doctors), anddokter djawabecameInlandsche arts(native doctor).
