Abstract

The Shouldice repair avoids prosthetic mesh implantation and uses the patient’s own tissues to produce a strong, durable inguinal hernia repair. This chapter details the indications, preoperative preparation, pitfalls and danger points, operative strategy and technique, postoperative care, and complications of this repair technique.
