Abstract

Selecting and adopting open source projects significantly impact the competitiveness of organizations. Specially, Small and Medium Enterprises have to deal with major difficulties when they have to adopt existing solutions for managing their business activities. In particular, this problem is mainly felt with the availability of ERP Open Source systems. This paper proposes EFFORT (Evaluation Framework for Free/Open souRce projecTs), a framework for evaluating the quality of Open Source systems. The framework is, then, specialized for evaluating the quality of ERP Open Source systems. The usefulness of the specialized framework is investigated through a case study. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
