Abstract

Hydle discusses the impact of a digital story to communicate findings and perspectives from research-based evaluation. The case is a Norwegian prison for youth, 15--18 years. The author introduces perspectives and concepts from visual anthropology to explain the power of the visual, different from words and text. In particular, Hydle discusses the quality of this dimension in communicating new knowledge about how architectural and environmental elements such as buildings, colours and so on support the aim of prison: reconciliation and rehabilitation. The author describes the digital storytelling workshop as a community of learners. Building on the impact of the story in various contexts, nationally and internationally, she concludes that this way to visualise research serves its purpose.
