Abstract

Thanks to the development of information and communication technologies, the application of telematic instrumentation allows the implementation of a virtual instrumentation system that contains an electronic interface with remote co-communication that gives medical personnel the facility to communicate at a distance between the nursing assistant and the patients, in such a way that the medical professional can perform monitoring and control in the treatment of neuromuscular diseases, regardless of the place of origin where the patient is located. This article describes the development of a remote virtual instrumentation system oriented to support the area of physiatry and rehabilitation of a health establishment. Due to modern technological advances in biomedical instruction, there are technological devices that can be optimized as instruments for the acquisition, monitoring, and processing of bioelectric signals, to such an extent that it has facilitated the implementation of medical equipment consisting of an electromyograph and an electro-stimulator; this allows data to be sent and received over long distances, which causes radical changes with certain advantages that contribute to the quality of medical care. In this sense, it can be asserted that the execution of the research allows the development of a functional technological strategy for the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular diseases with the sole objective of covering vulnerable rural areas where the medical accessibility of their inhabitants is limited.
