Abstract

The structure of coixenolide (I), which was isolated from the seeds of Coix Lachryma-Jobi L. var. Mci-yuen (Roman.) Stapf and which has a growth-inhibiting activity against Ehrlich ascites sarcoma cells in mice, was investigated. Unsaturated fatty acids, obtained by hydrolysis of (I), was found to be an equimolar mixture of as-9-hexadecenoic acid and trans-11-octadecenoic acid. © 1961, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
