The appearance of novel technologies such as microelectromechanical systems (MEMs) in the manufacturing sector has facilitated the fabrication of nanometer-sized structures, and new research fields have emerged in this regard. Nanofluidics, which is the study of fluid flows in a channel or pore with at least one characteristic dimension below 100nm, is one such field of research.
