Abstract

The main objective of the ECHOES1 project is to build a distributed, adaptive, dynamic environment for educating and supporting technicians in the use and maintenance of complex industrial artefacts. To pursue this objective, Web Based Training, Virtual Reality and Multi-Agent Systems are synthesised within the ECHOES environment. Users co-exist within the virtual environment and with time social cohesion emerges yielding a virtual community. User profiling techniques facilitate adaptive courseware presentation.
