Objective in this chapter is to consider three main features of organizational conflict: ( 1) Under what conditions does conflict arise? We wish to be able to predict when and where organizational or individual conflict will occur. ( 2) What are the reactions of individuals and organizations to conflict? In general, we expect the response to conflict to-be an attempt to resolve it, and we wish to be able to specify what form this attempt will take. ( 3) What is the outcome of conflict? Particularly in a bargaining situation, we are interested in who gets what.
