Abstract

This paper proposes a new non-linear sliding mode controller for induction motors. The controller assumes that only the motor speed and stator currents are measured and seeks to provide asymptotic tracking of speed and flux. The control law incorporates a sliding mode observer and uses backstepping ideas to synthesise the non-linear controller sliding surfaces. Good results have been obtained in the benchmark simulations.
