Hydrallantois is the accumulation of excessive and abnormal fluid in the allantoic sac and causes acute, bilateral, rapidly progressive abdominal distention. The condition is diagnosed on the basis of physical examination findings and results of palpation per rectum. Results of ultrasonography may be contributory. Treatment of does with hydrallantois may be warranted, even if severe clinical signs are seen at the time of initial examination.
